Tirpitz Museum

Named after the German warship, the Tirpitz Museum was initially established in Lillehammer and later shifted to Alta in 1946. It contains artefacts and pictures of the Tirpitz and its remains after it was taken down in 1944. Being one of the most powerful battleships in the world, it needed to be preserved, and thus the museum came into being.
Located in Kåfjord, the museum is easily visible from far, thanks to its black wooden structure. The exhibits here include photos, uniforms, typewriters, musical instruments, etc., all dating back to the Second World War. The museum intends to preserve the ship's legacy and convey its importance in the history of Norway and Germany. Visiting hours are from 10:00 am to 5:00 pm every day from 15th June to 31st August.
