Omdal Gård
If there is a place in Alta where you can experience nature’s silence, it is Omdal Gård. It is known for being home to the Disney-famous Norwegian fjord horse.
Located in the valley of Mathisdalen, Omdal Gård is a farm owned by the Kjellmann family. They specialise in the breeding of Norwegian sheep and have bred over 100s of them. They also have the Norwegian fjord horse on the farm, who live with the reindeer here in summer. For those fond of wildlife, this place could be the perfect way to bond with different arctic animals.
There is a lávvu set up here where guests can relax while munching on hot beverages and local-made snacks served by the farm. You can enrol for sleigh ride tours here and roam around landscapes and green meadows in summer. There are ice-clad mountains nearby that showcase the raw beauty of nature in winter. Other activities popular here are hiking and horseback riding. The place is open for visitors from 8:00 am to 10:00 pm every day.
